Business Development & Partnering
XOventure has top people that have excelled in their roles as international business developers in various life science companies and areas; they come with deal sheets and hands on experience in partnering and networking in the industry.
A single person running BD for a limited number of programs cannot be everywhere - our people are out there continuously at relevant exhibitions and congresses. We will have the job done faster and better, at the same cost as hiring a senior BD manager. We act global and do the deals, and we enjoy doing it. Let us drive your next deal!
We can also provide cost-effective sourcing of business intelligence and information and screening through XOventure Asia.
The "BD Octopus": The traditional role of a life science Business Development Manager is to in- or out license a compound, a product, a technology or service and promote the business of the company. However, some professionals say business development is almost more a life style than a discipline, and very hard to be taught in word and letter. Some core ingredients seem to be: Personality, network, passion, information, relationship building, trust and instinct.
To get a partnering program in front of the right audience requires not only access to and understanding of the decision makers, but also the skill to set-up series of meetings leading up to deal execution. One may describe the job as a super sales rep or key account manager with project management skills to nurture R&D and other functions, spiced with high-level diplomatic and negotiation skills and an educational background in life sciences to understand what is really going on, oh yes – and please also +20 years international industry experience. No wonder that there are very few really top business development professionals, and they come at a price that is often prohibitive for the little Biotech start-up.
